Occupy Amsterdam

The square outside Amsterdam’s Euronext stock exchange was absolutely full. Using a multitude of tents and lashed together plastic   it had been taken over by protesters from Occupy Amsterdam. Camping out in more than 100 tents in the Beursplein square, demonstrators made food and speeches. Once the talk wad done they moved off on a march to take their protest to the outsideos of  the Bank of Netherlands to raise awareness.

Providing a good-natured distraction, Occupy Amsterdam’s own clown group  ran ahead. Throwing themselves between the protesters and the police they diffused any potential hostility with great knock-about comedy and smiles. As such the march to the bank passed without incident to close with post march speeches given by marchers and local protest celebrities.
