Group Photography Course Structure

Sometimes people prefer to learn in groups as opposed to having 1-2-1 photography tuition and each month I aim to bring photographers together in a practical course where everyone learns by doing. Each course starts with a full briefing on the day before we go out shooting. Here I will be giving you practical advice about how to shoot in the field, how to talk to subjects , how to anticipate a moment and how to assess both a scene and a location. There are many courses that will teach how your camera works but this is a live shoot which focuses on how you take photographs rather than how your camera does.

With a different brief to fulfil each time we will meet up at the end of the day and have a live analysis of the shots you have taken using a projector. Depending on the class size, you will be asked to choose between 5-7 of your best shots that best reflect the brief. By examining not only your own work but that of the rest of the group you will gain critical insights that will help inform your future photographs – and also have fun doing it.

The course duration is for 8 hours which includes an hour set aside to have lunch and 2 short breaks in-between for coffee and refreshments.

Who would this course suit?

Gift Vouchers.Group photography courses ideally suit intermediate photographers with a keen interest in story-telling and using their pictures to move people. Documentary photography is an excellent training ground for those interested in all forms of photography from portraiture, environmental photography, landscape photography to social photography as these are skills that every photographer will eventually need. Shooting in a live environment, followed-up with a live, constructive analysis afterwards will help accelerate your photography enormously.

Small Class Sizes

People learn at different speeds. Where some might like 1-2-1 training others prefer to learn in a group. Either way I like to keep class sizes small (3-5 people max) because I don’t want you to be lost in a crowd. By keeping things small and intimate I can really get to know both you and your photography better. This way I can explain not only how you can use your camera better, but also identify opportunities and turn half-chances into a pivotal moments.
